Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 Review

Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 Review

The Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 is an impressive electronic darts board with lots of great features and game modes, and impressive aesthetic that is ideal for any home games room.

Arachnid has been doing this for years and it really does show with these units which are exquisitely made and a lot of fun to play.

Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 Design

The design of Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 is similar to a lot of electronic dartboards, in that it is a regular board with the score and input directly below.

The dartboard itself is the regulation target area (15.5”), while the surround is kept relatively minimal and the display is made up of multiple red LEDs.

The board also manages to use the tournament red and black colors which gives it a more professional and authentic appearance and allows you and other players to picture yourselves in a real game.

The board also has some other smart features such as several design concepts that help to reduce rebound. For instance, the extremely thin segment dividers help a great deal, as do the square holes which increase friction and thereby helps to keep darts in place.

The entire unit overall measures in at 30” x 22” x 3” and weighs around 10 pounds. That means it should be able to fit into any home games room or pub with no trouble.

Arachnid Cricket Pro 800 Functionality

This is a plastic electronic dartboard which means it works by including many tiny imperceptible holes into which a dart can slot.

This means that the dartboard is not suitable for use with steel tip darts – the kinds used in professional tournaments – and can instead only be used with soft tip darts. That does slightly reduce the functionality for some as it is possible to get the best of both worlds with an e-bristle board.

However, this will be more than functional enough for the vast majority of users, as long as they recognize that they must use it with soft tip darts and not try to use steel tips which will do a lot of damage.

As an electronic dartboard, this means that the board will be able to register when a dart sticks into it and thereby use that to tally up a score for those playing. This allows you to play darts with a friend without the need to continuously update the scoreboard, and that means that you can play much more quickly and increase the pace and excitement of the game.

But that’s not the only use for an electronic dart board. You can also use an electronic dart board when playing on your own. This is a great way to practice when you don’t have anyone to play with and to see yourself improving.

The main thing to look for when choosing an electronic dartboard is the number of game modes. That’s a huge amount of entertainment that you can enjoy solo or with friends.

It also supports up to 8 players, so it’s perfect for parties and events.

Another great feature is the inclusion of handicapping. That way, if you’re playing against someone who isn’t as good as you (which is likely seeing as you’ll have spent so long practicing with the Arachnid), then you’ll be able to handicap yourself so as to create a fair competition.

Also useful is ‘dart averaging’. This will let you calculate your average point per dart and then see your score go up at the end of each round. There are no calculations to be made by you – you just get a single score that is representative of your overall ability. It’s the perfect incentive to keep playing and keep improving and when you see it go up, it’s immensely rewarding!

We also loved the heckler feature which can spur you on to keep going.

Wrap up

While an electronic dart board isn’t to everyone’s tastes, and the look and readout might be fairly basic, this product has it where it counts. With a huge variety of game modes, reduced rebound, and a useful design, this really does tick all the major boxes you could be looking for.
